Description
The Rheem-Ruud SP20761 is a hot surface ignitor, an essential part of gas-fueled HVAC appliances such as furnaces, boilers, and water heaters. This ignitor is highly significant in starting the combustion process safely and accurately. As opposed to spark ignitors that produce sparks, hot surface ignitors utilize electricity to heat a silicon nitride element much. When gas flows over the hot element, it ignites, thus starting the main burner. A standard 120V household current operates it while 4.5 amps are drawn from it, which does not add much burden to your electrical system, hence ensuring efficiency. It is durable, so there are no replacements needed frequently.
