This refrigerant has three major functions within the cooling process it draws heat from within your home and dumps it outside. The expansion valve’s work is like that of an accurate nozzle it opens and closes depending on refrigerant temperature as well as directing refrigerant amount to the evaporator coils. This is how it works as the heated refrigerant vapor gets to the valve, it undergoes a small pressure drop. The colder liquid refrigerant then evaporates and takes heat from the air passing around the evaporator coil and thus the cooling felt in your house.
