The York 025-27924-000 Crankcase Heater is an easy to install and essential component that enhances the durability and efficiency of HVAC. I found another type of crankcase heater which runs at 120V and occupies a space of 9” in depth, 9” in breadth and 2” in height. Its purpose is to avoid compressor troubles by controlling the temperature of the crankcase compartment. The crankcase heater produces heat to help the compressor to maintain the refrigerant liquid especially when it is idle. This is because, through refrigerant migration into the crankcase, efficiency of the system during its start up is reduced as well as damaging the compressor.
