Description
The Trane HTR15171 is a belly band crankcase heater that is specially made for Trane HVAC systems. The heater is about 6.5” in diameter and 0.75” in height, and is a 70-watt heater that fits around the compressor’s crankcase. Some types of belly band heaters are strapped, In off-cycles, or when the compressor is off, this produces heat to ensure proper crankcase oil temperature. This minimizes the flow of refrigerant and oil mixing which is undesirable. Refrigerant migration is a process whereby refrigerant changes from gas to liquid within the oil and therefore losing its lubrication qualities. Oil dilution occurs when refrigerant enters into contact with the oil and thus reduces its thickness.
