Lochinvar & A.O. Smith 100111979 Flame Sensor is a safety part that is required in gas-fired heating and cooling equipment including furnaces and boilers. It works in that, during the ignition process the sensor can detect the presence of a flame, if it fails to detect a flame, the sensor will be able to turn off the gas supply avoiding occurrences such as gas leakage or explosions. This flame sensor reduces risks of carbon monoxide-related dangers and is also useful in the proper functioning of heating systems.
