Description
The Trane SWT1744 high-limit safety switch is one of the most significant safety components in HVAC systems. It has three prongs for a solid electrical connection throughout the system. The main purpose of the Trane is to prevent your HVAC equipment from overheating. In this case, it is normally set to a predetermined temperature threshold, which is 190°F, 87.8°C. The Trane opens the electrical connection when the temperature around the switch gets above this threshold, usually cutting power to the compressor.
